About

After climbing through pine forest and marl to reach the cabanette suspended above Luc-en-Diois, if you're a mountaineer, you'll climb to the Pic de Luc, overlooking the summit slab of the gargantuan Claps scree.

Step by step

1/ From the Grande Rue, head for the village center, then turn left onto Rue de la Gare. Pass under the railroad bridge and continue straight ahead.
2/ At the right-hand bend (cross), continue straight ahead on the track. It rises gently and becomes a footpath after the walnut grove. 500 m further on, turn left across the bottom of the valley. The path climbs up through the undergrowth, leading to a wide track.
3/ Go down the track to the right for 50 m, then up the path to the right. At the 1st crossroads, take the left-hand path, which rises through the pine forest, twists and turns before approaching the northern flank of the completely eroded peak (marl) and climbing to the summit.
4/ Return to point 3 along the same path as before and follow the track opposite for around 2 km, passing the Gratte-Loup DFCI reservoir.
5/ 600 m later, in the right-hand bend, just before the Rochette ravine, take the path on the left which descends into the combe to join the Luc stream. Leave a track on the left, then reach a road. Turn left over the bridge to follow the Chemin du Pic to the right and return to the route you took on the outward journey. Turn right into Avenue de la Gare, then right into Grande Rue to reach the parking lot.
